Today May 20th is the 1 year anniversary of my Grandpa's death. Duncan Alan McGugan was his name and he was the funniest man I have ever known! I miss him terribly and love him dearly and I'm glad knowing that one day I will see him again.
The morning my Grandpa died, his little dog Sadie got sick and then passed away during his funeral. I know he took her with him and I am glad he had a friend to go with. She was the sweetest little sheltie dog and I know she missed him while he was in the hospital. It was weird but also kind of comforting because we know that they went together.
Dunc, as he was called by almost everyone, always knew how to make me laugh and was always a crowd pleaser, especially with his nurses. He used to do Donald Duck impressions and threaten to steal my dolls because he didn't have one to sleep with at night. He made funny faces and I even have a physio therapy work out video of him recorded on my old cell phone from when he was in the hospital. The last words we ever said to each other were in joking.
I will never forget my Grandpa and I will always be sad that the important people who enter my life from now on wont be able to meet him. But I have endless funny stories for those people and it is safe to say that they will know the joy that he brought to my family.
I love you Grandpa and I hope they are treating you well in heaven.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing." -2 Timothy 4:7-8

So I just bought like $70 worth of paper....the buyers remorse has yet to kick in.
In my effort to start a journal and read more I purchased 2 pretty notebooks and this really awesome half notebook half book.
The 1/2 notebook book is called Listography: Your Life in Lists by Lisa Nola.
Listography, the book, is designed to help you create your autobiography through list making. I created listography because I am nostalgic. I love the little details of life, from the experiences to favorites...I believe everyone should have an autobiography, if only for their loved ones to read and even in the simplest form: a list.
I am a huge list maker, and the book comes with great ideas and fun illustrations for each list.
Some of the lists are:
-List the places you've lived
-List your favourite TV shows of all time
-List the ways you have changed since your teens
-List professions you'd like to try
-List the best things about you
-List famous people you have encountered
-List things you love and dispise
-List things you'd like to do before you die
-List your hang outs past and present
-List your drunkenest momentsI think this book would make a great gift...if only just for yourself. There is also a website for the same purpose

I have never been big on the new years resolutions....maybe because January 1st does not signal a new year in my mind. What really is new and refreshing and rejuvenating about January? Nothing except the number at the end of the 2000 increases by one. One tiny number that, if you are like me, doesn't work its way into your head or on to your paper for about a month anyway. After January 1st you have a few more days off school but then everything resumes right back to the way it has been since September.
I think spring is better suited to bring in the start of a new year. School ends (at least for university students), snow melts and the weather gets nice, and everything just relaxes a little bit.
So I am going to make my new years resolutions right now.
-I am America and So Can You by Stephen Colbert
-The Heart is a Lonely Hunter by Carson McCullers (been on my shelf for years)
-We are also hoping to read a book each month to our LITs
Any suggestions??
Start a journal. I'm just waiting to find a really pretty one
Get lots of daily exercise. Never a problem at camp but hopefully it will carry over.
Find more time to just be!!! I seriously need to just simmer down and relax. I also want to find more time to spend with all the girls together.
We have reached the time of year where the promos for my favorite shows include the sad words "season finale". On the bright side they often come with the glorius words "1 hour special", but this year it really should be 2hour special because of the writers strike that robbed me of my Mondays and Thursdays for months, forcing me (much against my will) to find less pathetic things to occupy my time.
Even though I will be tv-less at camp for the entire summer I still get sad that my favourite shows are ending. And to those of you who think that my tv driven life is sad a) it is a little and b) I don't care. I love tv, I love it.
So in honor of my life ending for the season, I am making some predictions about how the seasons will end...
The comeback started off strong with crazy Jan, the Jim/Pam engagement, Kevin's hilarity and Toby's AWESOME move on Pam, but its slowly been declining. I wont act like I didn't call Amanda screaming that Jim bought Pam a ring, but the fast moves concern me. On the weekend Taps said he thinks they are headed for a breakup, but if that happens I will just lose all faith in humanity, so I am saying they will hopefully just leave Jim and Pam where they are. I predict Michael will find a new woman and maybe Kelly will do something funny because she hasn't been around lately (except for when she said to Ryan "yes I have lots of questions: first, how dare you?" and I shot milk out my nose). I also feel like Angela will dump Andy and her and Dwight will reunite. All I have to say is it better be good.
Gossip Girl:
My guilty guilty passion. To be honest, I don't really care what happens, I just eat this crap up.
haha NOT!
(sorry, I know there are alot of BSG fans, but I don't understand. It took me months to even figure out what BSG meant)
Okay I don't think anyone really cares enough anymore to make predictions. Last season I was all over that, this year, not so much. But I still like the show and I feel like they are slowly redeeming themselves so I will throw a few guesses out there. Callie and Hahn will probably hook up, Karev will find out his baby mamma is a huge liar and then he will get mad at Issie for not telling him and Issie will continue to live in self loathing blah blah blah. I can hope for Derek and Meredith to get back together but thats how the last season ended so I doubt it...maybe we will get more delicious tension though. My biggest hope is that they will make Yang suck it up!!! She has become so soft and so totally lame. Maybe they will all get a big smack and stop being so whiney!
Josh just showed me possibly the coolest thing ever!!!!
you HAVE to check it out.
He added this application to Firefox called StumbleUpon which lets you pick out a bunch of your interests and then adds a button to your toolbar that lets you "stumble upon" random websites that meet your interests.
Anyways, he found the most amazing website called Musicovery that has a scale for mood. You click on an area that best describes your mood and then it brings up a map of all of this music that would fit your current mood. If you click on one song it opens up even more.
Now I am not the biggest music buff but I do like finding new artists to listen to and I do enjoy my mood music, so for me this is the coolest thing ever!
Go and see!!!
So I spent the night at Chelsie's place in St. Catharines yesterday. She is currently living with her cousin who I really like but is clearly very ill because she has SIX cats. Yes I said SIX.
Now let me explain that I am, and have always been, now and forever a dog person. I hate cats. Cats hate me. I am the person who, when a cat comes looking for a pat, says "um......yeah....I don't do that" or hiss at it until it gets the picture.(In my defense, most of them hiss at me first).
Now having said that, let me describe the horror that was my "sleep".
-First, as I am just about to fall asleep, out of nowhere comes Lenny (the fattest and most dog-like and therefore the most tollerable one) flying right at my head. He decides that the best point of entry onto the bed would be via my face.
-About to fall asleep again after the almost fatal heart attack when I hear the stray one making horrifying noises and trying to fight the other cats.
-Eventually fall asleep, unable to move because various cats have settled in the spaces between my legs.
*Just a note: At no point was is acceptable to shut the door because Chelsie would feel bad*
And my favourite moment of the night was at 6.30ish in the morning we wake up to gagging noises. Chel whips Lenny off the bed but not in time to keep him from BARFING ON MY PILLOW.
ON MY PILLOW.
Needless to say all cats were kicked out of the room and the door slammed. Chelsie understood.
I've never been a huge Madonna fan and I'm also not in love with Justin Timberlake....I like him but it ain't love
However.......their new song and video colaboration is AWE-SOME.
check ittt outtt
Sleuth, Hunch, Pumps. All words that came into my vocabulary via the greatest yet sadly fictional detective EVER. Miss. Nancy Drew.
I used to spend my summers stalking the library and tearing apart my grannys house looking for old Nancy Drew books and then read them 3 times before I got the next one.
Annyywaysss, I kind of forgot about my passion for good old nancy until a year or so ago when "Andrew Flemming" decided to go and make a movie about her that would have Carolyn Keene rolling in her grave.....(is she dead?)
Here are my grievances:
1. Nancy Drew was not 13!!!!!!!
evidence: a) she DROVE
b) she dated the beautiful ned nickerson
c) she wore pumps.
d) she solved frickin' crime!!!!!
I'm sorry but are you familliar with many middle-schoolers who fit that description? i think not.
2. Bombs....yeah, right. please see preview "excuse me I have to diffuse this bomb"
okay so I know this is the age of terrorist bombings and whatnot but nancy drew was written in the 50s. That means:
-she never diffused any stupid bombs
Okay so I know the original books weren't all that realistic......same format every time
-theres a crime that nancy witnesses, her dad is also working on a criminal case....surprise surprise they're connected
-somehow nancy gets herself into a rediculous amount of danger.....but no need to freak out
-conveniently the bad guy confesses every genious detail of his plan while nancy is his captive....yeah, that always works out well.
-crime solved, bad guy arrested, nancy amazing.
3. Also, where the hell are George and Bess????? Is that chubby kid supposed to be Bess?? if so, someone should fire the casting director.
I could go on forever, but you get the gist.
So many things to blog about!!!!
Here is a preview into my future blog posts....(and also a list so I can remember what i wanted to write about)
-Spice Girls concert (i'm still screaming on the inside)
-Oscars....who looked drab, who looked fab.....oh and the movies
-My recent movie going experience
